Free Guided Tours

Take a free guided tour and get an overview of Capitol history, art, architecture and state government.

The outdoor observation deck is open daily from mid-April through December. Inclement weather as well as building construction may affect if the outside deck is open. Check for more detailed information about the Observation Deck at: Observation Deck

For groups smaller than 10 no reservation is required. Arrive at the listed tour time to join the tour in the Rotunda. For groups of 10 or larger. Reservations can be made at Tour Reservation Page or by calling (608) 266-0382 between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.

Guided Tour Times

Capitol Tours start at the ground floor Capitol Rotunda and are 45-50 minutes. Enter any of the eight entrances and head towards the center of the building. Feel free to inquire at the Rotunda Information Desk.

*Summer 4 pm Weekday Tour: An additional 4:00 pm tour is offered during the summer on weekdays between Memorial Day and Labor Day excluding holidays.

* Some of the areas may be closed to tour groups; we cannot predict the availability in advance. The tour will not go into the Assembly or Senate if the legislature is in session, but visitors may observe from the galleries.

Getting Here

Entrances

There are four accessible entrances to the Capitol: Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, East Washington Avenue, West Washington Avenue and Wisconsin Avenue. Two accessible parking spots are available at East Washington Avenue and one at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Elevators are available up to the fourth floor.
